Metin2 US Adds Persistent Mounts, Limited Availability

It's just shy of a year since Metin2 US received the Boar, Wolf, Tiger and Lion mounts, and today players now have a new method to acquire and ride these animals; via the Item Mall. These mounts are only available throughout June 2011.

The mounts from the item mall are not the same as the Tokens that last for 5 minutes, which players receive from Watery Cases. Instead players receive a Medallion, which provides an hour's worth of riding. Also worth noting is that the medallion is equipped in the same way as a language ring, meaning players can equip / unequip it as they please. The medallions are also fully tradable, so they can be passed between characters or sold in shops.

Only the Boar, Wolf and Tiger mounts are available, and they offer different bonuses to their 5 minute counterparts:

Defence Power?
We're not sure either. The "Defence" power doesn't translate to AC (known as Defence on other servers). The player's Magic Defence stat actually decreases while mounted. Here is a comparison of character stats between standing and mounted up, using the Tiger mount:

If Defence Power translated to AC, the character would have 956 AC when mounted on the Tiger.

Other Updates
You may notice that the Lion is missing from the collection of mounts. The Metin2 US staff mention that a new version of the Lion will arrive "extremely" soon, which going from their reputation could actually mean a few months to a year. The new mounts will be available only throughout June, after which they will be removed and replaced by new content. This could possibly be the Epic shoes, new Helms and Epic Armors that Gameforge players have been enjoying, which have found their way into the Metin2 US client in recent patches, but remain disabled for now.
