Dear Vizitator's

You may remember from our last update about the Devil's Catacomb that Gameforge had posted up a mysterious countdown ending on October 20th, titled simply "Project X". Amid all the news about the catacomb we guessed this might have something to do with the catacomb update, but it now turns out the it pertains to a different update - pets!

Pets are not a complete surprise, as the YMIR Development Plan that was leaked via Metin2 SG back in April makes a few mentions of pets. To jog your memory, here is the relevant slide:

The method of acquiring the pets may seem a little strange, but here goes: those interested must buy a copy of Metin2 from Amazon. Along with their own physical copy of Metin2, players will also receive a coupon which will allow them to own a pet in the game. Unlike recent disappointments with "temporary updates", the pets are permanent.

The game as ordered from Amazon costs €10.99, though the coupon inside is redeemable for €25 in the item shop. The coupon also allows entry into Gameforge's older Metin2 DEMetin2 DE servers, Carthage and Mosha. These older servers have long since been closed to new registrations, and as such are bot-free environments.

The box cover refers to a "Fire Phoenix"; we're not sure if there will be additional pets. Unfortunately, we can't show you any screenshots of what the pet(s) may look like ingame either, though there is a pre-rendered image available:

There are still 30 days until the project goes live, though you should expect to see more images and information as October 20th draws nearer.
